This Thursday, June 12, 2008 Ident Technology AG is having a workshop in Downtown Vancouver, BC. They are planning to open a company in Vancouver . As a result, they are looking for potential people to join them in both investment and expanding the company. This is a great chance for investment as the company is LLC, so investors can use this investment for ridding off their tax.

Ident Technology AG is a start-up that has bought the license from a German settled company for ~1and half million. The founders of this company bought the, ETEKON Company, for 4 million dollars four years ago, and have recently sold the company for 140 million dollars successfully . one of the founders in this fast-growing company is Wolf Gang who, by now, has 150 patents.

*If i go to business school majoring in marketing what degree would I get?

*If I go for marketing will I be expected to perform all of the duties under it such as advertisment, research, ect. or would the company that I would be working with have people who specialize in those areas be doing that?

*If I major in marketing would I have to settle on advertising, research, or some other sub branch underneath marketing or can I study marketing in all general areas?

*I want to do marketing but I want to eventually become head of marketing discussions and the team%26#039;s productivity, is it possible or would i need a degree in business administration, b/c in the beginning of my career I dont mind being a team player and following someone else%26#039;s directions but when I get enough experience I want to start calling the shots..you know.

If I was you, I%26#039;d look into visiting a large company or an advertising agency and ask if you can spend a day there to learn the lay of the land. I%26#039;m sure you could find a company or two in your area that would be happy to accommodate you - especially if you had an instructor help set this up for you.

Most Marketing majors leave college with either a Bachelors of Arts of a Bachelors of Science degree.

The field of Marketing includes a number of disciplines, including Advertising, Sales, Promotion, Market Research, eCommerce, Public Relations, and Event Planning. And, yes, most larger companies and/or advertising agencies have people who specialize in each of these areas. Within these separate disciplines there are a number of job titles and descriptions such as Account Supervisor, Account Manager, Creative Director, Media Planner, Copy writer, etc.

Sometime before you graduate college, I would advise you to take an internship, during which time you can learn more about the individual roles within a marketing department.

Costs to attend business school vary with the name of the school, your in-state residency status, and other factors.

Finally, Marketing and Advertising can be very hectic and pressure packed, and it%26#039;s never the same day twice. Still, I%26#039;ve found it to be a very rewarding career. If you have the aptitude for it, it can be very exciting.

Reply:I would love to help you, but I think your business model is just too broad to come up with a name that fits everything you do and offer: You teach, sell, hold parties, and sell interior design supplies. That%26#039;s a lot to fit into one name.

Whichever local paper you want the ad to appear in, you%26#039;ll have to contact the newspapers advertising department and find out the rate. The newspaper department is the only one who can tell you the cost.

The cost of the ad will depend on which paper you chose and what type of ad you place (how many lines, color photo, etc). Before you place an ad in the paper, you may want to consider registering a domain name that is easier to remember and having it forwarded to your existing site.

Just kidding, try to enter forums and blogs that discuss products or interests that might bring people to your website. A video game website might need to roam game forums in order to create buzz. How do you think Google and Yahoo became so popular. They developed a business plan and utilized their strengths and managed to harness the internet. It take a lot of devotion and time, but it should work.

Remember, you can use them to get multiple free websites %26amp; you use them for free advertising. I made quite a bit in commissions by promoting my websites.

Just go to the website geocities %26amp; follow their directions on making a free website. The directions are very easy to follow %26amp; it only takes a few minutes. Since I%26#039;ve seen your own website; I know you%26#039;re educated on the internet %26amp; web so making your own free geocities websites should be very easy for you. Just remember, you can make multiple websites for such reasons as promoting different products or services to sell %26amp; you can also advertise your specials.

One very excellent way that I found to make money using these geocities websites is that you can forward or attach these websites to your e-mails %26amp; your potential customers will see your websites when they read your e-mails.

What can a marketing guy do for a start-up when the product is not ready yet?

I am planning to start a startup with one of my friend but our product is not ready yet. I want to know what can a marketing guy do in that case? like market research, deciding the customer/client strategy, strategy for approaching VC etc.? Any pointers in this regard will be helpful.

You should be able to make a non-working dummy product up that can be shown to prospective buyers. The closer to the real thing the better.

This way you can start selling now before you are even in production.

Start gathering lead generating materials that when you are ready to move forward on sales you really ready.

Are you getting the key word here: sales sales sales

Everything should be geared towards this getting started sooner than later. Money greases the wheel and all the websites, signs, fancy promo packs aren%26#039;t going to make you dime one.

Just to clarify - I am gonna assume you are a Marketing person and not a Sales person. As a Marketing person, you need to have the corporate strategy, product strategy and branding done before the sales person is even hired! As soon as the Sales person comes on board, he can just take ur go to market strategy, use the demo product and start working the market.

If I were to list a few things (in chronological order):

1. Vision and mission statement

2. Branding - create logo, design templates, taglines, colour swatch

3. Implementation of branding - create website, sales collateral, brochures, company signboards, demo products, etc.

4. Marketing strategy - Create an overall go to market strategy including pricing and product feature/benefits listing.

5. Promotions strategy - Create the list of external/internal communications activities that you need to take up

By the time you have done all this, I sure hope the product is ready!

My good friend Rick Hendershot at LInknet Promotions does great work. He can place very targeted ads in high PR Blogs that will really give you good results. He isn%26#039;t cheap, but he has packages that are affordable and the results you realize are worth the cost. The reason blog ads are so effective is because one ad can multiply hundreds of times over as every time a new page is created your ad is there with it. Also, as pages get linked to by more and more blogs, it just compounds. Blog advertising should be a part of any website seo and promotional effort.

I don%26#039;t think the layout grabs attention. You should probably have a brief description of exactly what the site is about and what it might contain at the top of the page. I love the content! But! Sites like this drive me a little nuts because they report..but don%26#039;t offer many suggestions about solutions....you should probably add an activism bar to give out information ....

There are some companies out there that you can pay them to advertise your company on google for you.

What is the average cost per click they should be charging?

This one company charges $3 per click, is that too much?

i really think you should do it your self because how much u pay per click on google depends on how much you bid and the cost of your keywords. let say you have a keyword that worth 0.04 cents. that company would only be paying google 4 cent for that click but you will be paying 3 dollars for a click thats worth 4 cents. There are some, like %26quot;pumps%26quot; that are running $5 per click to be in the top 5 listings.

I don%26#039;t suggest paying that much for a click... ever.

Come up with a qualifier to that word and you will have less click fraud and pay less per click... like $0.50 instead of $5

for %26quot;waterjetting pumps%26quot; or %26quot;charge pumps%26quot;.

I%26#039;ve been around the world with these stupid firms... they will charge you a hefty up-front fee to set up the Google account, then a monthly administrative fee, and they will set the pay-per-click charge so high that you can%26#039;t help but be on the top of that page... but you will pay through the nose every time someone hits your link. Could you afford for 100 people to hit your link just to look around and not buy anything? Then you will have paid $300 for nothing.

My advice is to set up your own Google account... watch the tutorials they offer... and watch the keywords you set up. If you get a lot of clicks on something, but no sales, you need to get rid of that keyword.

Basically, it is a matter of refinement.

You need to define your market before you can construct an effective selling name for your tubes. Lets say your tubes were very easy to install (I hate bike tubes %26amp; have trouble with them). You could call them,

buddies, toobs, soft riders, and so on...

I say again... examine your market and your product and you%26#039;ll find a good brand name.

Will you use the CRM for your outsourced call center operations? How many users today? How many in 18 months? Will you provide access to the data for clients? Example, If your client pays you to populate a database and do appointment setting will you distribute those leads and appointments directly from the CRM?

I am partial to SugarCRM for highly custom solutions because the source is available and easy to work with. Also, you can deploy it on site very inexpensively.

I think before you even get to that point the most important thing is to be able to speak comprehensible English. Half the time when I make a call to customer support for anything I get some Indian speaking in some strange dialect of gibberish. It%26#039;s so bad I now make a point to demanding to talk to an American who is in the United States who can speak English. By the time I finally get someone who speaks understandable English I am angry, so the best way to deal with anger is to drop the gibberish and speak in a language not spoken in India.

Sometimes I call customer support with the sole intention of getting the customer service rep to hang up on me. It%26#039;s not that hard to do. However, a true professional is unflustered by the idiocy I spew out, and will never get upset or emotional over-react to my nonsense. Just yesterday I had a customer support rep at Verzion threaten to terminate my phone service because she could not handle the words of truth and wisdom I was conveying to her ears. She was not a true professional; she was more of an idiot than me.
Reply:If you are the one calling and the potential customer is receiving the call, be prepared for a lot of verbal abuse.

People hate calls from call centers.

If you are on a hotline where they call you, be patient because they don%26#039;t always understand someone else%26#039;s directions or what info they may need to give you.
Reply:1-ALWAYS repeat what they say to you in a manner that shows you were listening. this is a good way to show you have their undivided attn.
Reply:Please get follow given steps

1. Remember there’s a human on the other end. It doesn’t matter if the customer support rep is here, there, in India, wherever, they’re still human. Treat them with dignity and respect. Their sole purpose is to help you so be kind and thank them in advance for their assistance. The nicer you are the nicer they’ll be in response — this is simple human nature.

2. Don’t assume your request will be ignored. I’m always surprised by the number of people who start or end their email with “No one will probably see this, but…” Don’t assume that. It devalues the request, starts the exchange off on a negative, and puts the support agent on the defensive.

3. Don’t start with a threat. “Do this immediately or else…” or “If you don’t do this I’ll report you to the Better Business Bureau” or “If you don’t do that I’m going to report this to my bank and other authorities” or “If you don’t respond within 4 hours you’ll be hearing from my lawyer…” It’s not uncommon to hear this on the first email from people. I don’t know if folks assume you are out to get them or they’ve been burned before, but starting with a threat never helps your cause. Given the choice to help two people, the customer service person is naturally going to help who appears easiest to help first. Plus, people will do more for others who are kind to them than they will for someone sounding bitter and dismissive right from the start.

4. Provide useful, descriptive, relevant information. This can be a tough one since people don’t always know what’s relevant, but think it through before you send your support request. If you are having trouble logging in, don’t just say “I can’t login. Any ideas?” Instead say “Whenever I try to login, the login screen just reloads without an error message. I know my username and password is correct. Any ideas? Thanks.” That extra bit of information will help considerably and will reduce the number of back-and-forth emails between you and the support person.

5. Don’t write overly detailed, wordy support requests. The longer your email the more of a burden it puts on the customer support person. They have to read the entire thing (I’ve seen simple support requests balloon into two printed pages), sift through to find what’s meaningful, and spend more time figuring out exactly what’s wrong. Since they’re trying to help you, you want to reduce their burden. You want to make it as easy as possible for them to help you. So, be clear, concise, and brief. More words often confuses instead of clarifies the issue. Save the wordiness for the thank you email once the problem has been solved.

I hope this is helpful. Just as customer support folks need to learn to provide great customer support, customers need to learn how to be great customers. Got any others? Got any tips for getting better support?

If you want to become a proper business you need to make your site look more profesional.

By looking at the prices they seem fair enough, although i was discouraged by a few of the 拢4 bracelets though, as for postage - its a good price, but would you benefit from lowering your prices a little and raising the p%26amp;p for multiple purchases?

I feel like I need a more obvious navigation scheme... not just a bunch of small words off on the right hand corner of the page. Your current slogan reads %26quot;Handmade jewellery and accessories%26quot;. I think it should pull together the uniqueness and eco friendly aspects of your company. Something like, %26quot;Eco friendly to make you look and feel beautiful.%26quot;

As you know people love to feel that their bracelet or ring, etc is unique and that no one else has it. This could also be better communicated.

You have a fantastic product, and funnily enough you%26#039;ve landed at a place (yahoo answers) that you can use to promote your business. Go to the jewellery making section (I assume one exists) and answer other peoples questions about making jewellery, including very specific links to pages of yours that provides further info (just be very careful you follow Yahoo! terms of use or you%26#039;ll get your account banned for seemingly very trivial things).

Write %26amp; submit articles to ezinearticles.com about jewellery making. Write articles about eco friendly materials and how they%26#039;re better than synthetics for the planet and you. And don%26#039;t limit this to online places like a blog, ezine articles etc, see if you can get published in the newspaper, or get interviews with radio. You can also participate on forums that deal with jewellery making and again subtley let everyone know that you make it yourself (you might be able to have a sig file with your url in it). Just make sure you provide valuable info on how to do it while you%26#039;re promoting yourself! Believe it or not telling others how to do it will get you sales.

Another biggy is that you need to capture your customers email addresses and get their permission to market to them again. I%26#039;m not sure what software you%26#039;re using, but if you sign up with aweber, and ask your web person to integrate the form into your site, you can then update your customers on whats new with a very, very speedy email which is almost free.

Do you mean you are ranking only in individual words, not key phrases? I seriously doubt that, because it is so much easier to get ranked -- and ranked well -- for longer phrases than individual words.

I suggest you get Google Analytics http://www.google.com/analytics -- it is free and can tell you which keywords you are getting traffic from in Google

And get a Google Webmaster Tool account as well http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools as it can tell you the top keywords/keyphrases that you are ranking and getting traffic from in Google

Normally when you are looking to run a link exchange program you have a devoted section/page on your site that is for your affiliate or link partners. You would then send a request to a website, usually a webmaster, stating that you are looking to do a reciprocal link exchange and explain how your site would be relevant to theirs, and vice versa. Provide them with the html code, so all they have to do is copy and paste it in to their site. You may also want to go ahead and link to their site before you send the e-mail, this way they may be more inclined to link back.

Things to remember:

- You want to find websites that are relevant to what you do

- Ideally, you want to find websites who have high pagerank and lots of inbound links to their site

- You want to use the keywords you are trying to rank for in the anchor text

However, personally I would try and develop some good unique content that would be useful to your industry and try and get people to link to that. Maybe it is an article, blog post, video, tool, widget, etc...

Search engines give much more credit for one-way inbound links. It is better to get 1, one-way relevant inbound link to your site than to get 10 reciprocal links. It may be harder to find a trusted site to link to yours, but it will pay off when you do get one.

Information - especially in forums and blogs is ephmeral. It doesn%26#039;t stick around long so things change quickly and suddenly, you discover a great thread on a site that had never delivered before.

Web information oozes across the web, being picked up and dropped by dozens of forum and blog sites. Just gotta follow the ooze, I guess.

Reply:This is the answer I gave for this question(http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... I was picked as best answer so someone thought it was helpful. However I did not edit it to remove yard work type stuff.

It%26#039;d be helpful to know your skills if you have any. That%26#039;s not so unreasonable though. That would be approximately $16 a day. At $6 an hour(minimum wage), it would mean 3 hours of work a day for 20 days.

So to be on the safe side try to make $20 a day for the next 20 days(just in case something doesn%26#039;t work out one of those days).

A bunch of suggestions: mow some lawns and weed, give your family members hair cuts, try to get paid to clean your kitchen and house(maybe even hold a ard sale and try to get a share of the profits). Also see if any neighbors need help, you could weed yards or clear timber. Ask around your school, often the office can use your help stapling or punching holes in papers, or clean classrooms and bathrooms. If you are persistant you can find those types of jobs and do them. If you have any subjects in school that you excel in you may be able to get parents to pay you to tutor their kids(my brother made $10 an hour this way). You seem to be proficent on the computer, you could try to design websites or put some of those skills to use if you have them. Basically just find things that people need done and ask them to pay you to do it. Just make sure you and the person paying are clear about the money situation ahead of time.

Also parents are usually willing to pay a $10-20 dollar a week allowance which might slightly help if you ask them to.

Depends on the state but probably you are too young to say work at McDonalds for a few hours a day(may be possible though).

on Firefox and I can%26#039;t see practically any ads. Until IE starts allowing third party programs to run it%26#039;s just not my first choice of browsers.

If you haven%26#039;t moved to Firefox you should. It%26#039;s 100% compatible with Vista and far more configurable. Besides being free. You can have as many browsers loaded on your machine as you want.

I use IE only to DL updates to windows and check websites I develop.

It%26#039;s a bug in the coding of the site so the ads cover the page and you can%26#039;t do anything from your end.

This has been raised in the YA forum so many times so YA is aware of the problem. When they are going to fix it, however, is a whole different ballgame

Search engine wise and even in terms of usability , it is very poor for the following reasons:

- Your homepage has no text. Users need to know what your site is, and having a blurb on the homepage can tell them more about your site. You want to make them come in -- and they will come in if they think what you offer is what they are looking for. Visual clues such as pics are ok, but you need to tell them. Hire a copywriter or write some of the marketing blurbs on your homepage

- Everything in your pages is graphics, including the text. You need HTML. Search engines like Google need text to chew on. Without text, you cannot expect your site to get top rankings in the search engines, which is a major mistake as good rankings in the search engine can help you reach your audience for free.

- It%26#039;s not yet done (or is this a shopping cart implementation error?). Clicking on SHOPPING CART leads me to a black page that only says %26quot;Your cart is empty. Please continue shopping%26quot; . Of course it is empty! Maybe instead of linking to your shopping cart, put in your menu the link to the items you are selling first. This whole setup does not make sense at all.

That’s the kind of opening that can hook a customer and make them stay on your site.

Now here’s the next — and the MOST IMPORTANT PART.

3. Customer Segmenting

Ask the customer what they’re looking for. Yes - seriously…give them a list.

What’s Your Biggest Question on Plaque Control?

* Cost of Teeth Whitening

* Home versus Dentist

* What’s the difference between kits, gels, strips %26amp; etc,

Here’s the KEY POINT

Each question is a link to a separate page on the site that answers the question and then RECOMMENDS ONE PRODUCT THAT THE CUSTOMER SHOULD BUY.

In many cases having many different products with different prices and reviews can have a severely negative impact on your conversion rate. There should never be any reason for your browser to have to stray from your website to get more information. This strategy eliminates that possibility.

So what does the customer see when they click on their question of choice?

4. Educating the Customer

Now let’s say the customer clicks on “What is the Cost of Tooth Whitening?”. The next page they see looks something like this:

The page DIRECTLY answers the question in brief and then recommends ONE single product for the customer.

At this point, the customer is having their main question answered. A sense of trust has been established. They are likely to perceive you as an expert and not a salesperson looking for a quick product.

Whatever product you recommend has now gained great credibility. The buy rate will likely be MUCH higher.

But why do we recommend just showing one product?

Let’s say you show 4 different products, the problem is that unless you explain the pros and cons of each really well, the visitor could jump off your site, go back to Google and do research on the products. Along the way, they might stumble onto a competitors site and you lose the sale.

So if you must show multiple products, explain them really well based on the question the customer previously clicked on.

In the case above, you know the customer is likely concerned with price. If you have 4 products in your catalogue, you can list all 4 on this page. But address the pricing levels of each. For example:

Product 1: This one is the most economical. But results take 3 months. I would recommend this if you’re looking to spend less than $200….

Product 2: High end product with great testimonials. Fast (most customers see results in ___ hours). The pricing is $3400.

Again, you want to give the customer the EXACT info they need so they can make a purchase on your site — with little confusion and little need to go back to Google and do more research.

Don’t stick to conventions - think out of the box. Learn to target your customers, discover what they’re looking for, give them EXACTLY what they’re looking for and make a sale through education and customer segmenting.

Whether it’s online, in a catalog, or through traditional direct mail marketing, too many choices will “paralyze” most prospects and impede their ability to click the “buy now” button.

If you are a designer then launch a webdesign blog and post all the tips and tricks. the issues that arise in your daily work and so on which will help others as a reference and would attract other designers to read your blog and participate in the discussions.

Do not start anything that you are unsure. Also this doesnt apply to everyone. An experienced webmaster always finds a way to success.

To answer your specific question,

I do start all types of things, as I like to do R%26amp;D in different themes. To see what works and what not works with little to extensive work/promotion.

The advertiser (the people behind the particular Adsense advert) pay Google and Google pay you a small part of that. Adense tell you how much you are earning each click daily. I think you have to have so much accumulated befor they pay you ($50??) but otherwise you can get a cheque each month. Don%26#039;t get too excited it may not be much. Also just think you are sending visitors away from your site to another site, and Google are getting the bulk of the money.

Is this idea good?

I have to promote a fairness cream, which offers sun protection.

So I decided to put up 2 face of a gal, one under Polaroid glass(one that darkens when exposed to light) and other normal plain glass. So the one that darkens, I am showing it as effect of not using the product and the plain glass one as effect of using the product.

I want honest opinion...Is this idea good?

Right now, the idea is just a rough sketch. But that is the basic idea.

i was given an assignment over the summer for all the RHM students to work. well, it%26#039;s not to be handed in in early october.

it%26#039;s a medium scale hotel, around 100 hotels in england, target market being tourists/business men, wanting to increase sales turnover.

i%26#039;ve been on vacation and done the paper for the past few days. just want to get more insight and opinions on marketing strategies for a hotel including the 4Ps:

A good marketing strategy should cover more than just the 4-p%26#039;s. You will want to cover the following:

A basic marketing strategy should include the following:

SITUATION OVERVIEW: What is presently happening in the marketplace? Where does your hotel rank in comparison to your competition? Who leads the market? Provide a brief history of your company.

OBJECTIVE: What do you want to accomplish with your marketing? More clients? Do you want to reach a better quality of client? Be specific, as this is how you will measure the success of your efforts.

STRATEGIES: What are the specific goals of your marketing? Are you trying to increase business at a certain hotel or marketing region? Do you plan to concentrate on business travelers exclusively? In your case, one example of a strategy might be %26quot;Establish communication with business travelers who travel upwards of 10 times a year.%26quot;

TACTICS: These are the specific courses of action you wish to initiate to achieve your objective and fulfill your strategies. Given the sample strategy above, a tactic might be to %26quot;Create a direct mail campaign targeted to Human Resource Directors throughout the UK.%26quot;

TARGET AUDIENCE: This is where you spell out who it is you are trying to reach. Where do they work? What do they do? Who at your target companies influence the hiring/purchasing decision? This will influence how you go about reaching them.

UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION: What is the one key difference that sets you apart from other companies offering the same or similar services? What makes your hotel different or better?

KEY MESSAGES: What is the one key message that you want your target audience to know? If you have more than one, list them in order of importance.

TONE %26amp; MANNER: This is where you describe how it is you would like to address your customer and how you want to be perceived by them. For example, do you want to come across as formal and professional? Do you want to come across as hard working and blue collar? Tone and Manner influences how your marketing materials will be written and how they will look.

CALL TO ACTION: What do you want to have happen as a result of your marketing communications? Are you trying to build a database of potential clients? Do you want to elicit telephone or e-mail inquiries?

RESULTS: How will the results of your advertising/marketing be measured? By sales? By e-mail inquiries? By visits to your company web site? By hotel bookings? If you don%26#039;t have an expectation, you won%26#039;t be able to measure the success of your advertising.

I have a lot of experience marketing small companies online (I have 3 companies). One of the best ways is to sign up at business directories and protals. These are basically listings of businesses (simliar to the phone book). The advantage is that these portals usually get a lot of traffic and they%26#039;re ranked high on Google because of all the quality links they contain.

My favorite portal is called Directory Exclusive. I signed up a few weeks ago because they%26#039;re giving a away a free business card holder when a person enter%26#039;s their company info. I received it in the mail 3 days ago =)

There are many ways to market a small business on the web. You can buy banner ads, text links, or use PPC. However, the best way is to get listed in a bunch of portals. Portals and directories are like phone books, and they often provide a lot of traffic because they tend to rank high on Google.

wondered because i wnat to start a buisness where they get their stuff from i mean these are ordinay people gettinng broken and even working item to sell and make a huge profit do they get it from the manufacturer or so recycling buisness help me out here because they wont tell me anything of course they wont so if anyone can tell me where they get their electronics from plz tell me i mean they have it all laptops cool one and brand new um they got ps3s and all that stuff where do they get it all l

well, i can;t answer your question fully, because i don;t know where they get them from either. Just a word of caution though, a lot of these people on Ebay are scammers, they make you pay and then don;t send out the item, this has happened to me twice. I ordered two laptops off ebay, both very good rated customers, which never turned up..
