Do you mean you are ranking only in individual words, not key phrases? I seriously doubt that, because it is so much easier to get ranked -- and ranked well -- for longer phrases than individual words.
I suggest you get Google Analytics http://www.google.com/analytics -- it is free and can tell you which keywords you are getting traffic from in Google
And get a Google Webmaster Tool account as well http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools as it can tell you the top keywords/keyphrases that you are ranking and getting traffic from in Google
How do I get google to pick up key phrases from my website? Currently it has only picked up individual words.?
You want to make sure that the phrases are actually being used by your audience. Some phrases sound great but are not used at all by a certain audience.
